Members of the House of Lords have called for the Grocery Code Adjudicator to have powers to immediately fine retailers who are found to be in breach of the Grocery Suppliers Code of Practice.
During the Second Reading debate of the Bill, concerns were raised about the enforcement powers of the Adjudicator, a number of Peers called for the Government to grant the Adjudicator the power to impose financial penalties on retailers that breach the code from day one.
